Who We Are

Florida Philanthropic Network (FPN) is a statewide association of grantmakers working to strengthen philanthropy through research, education and public policy.

FPN’s members are private independent, corporate and family foundations, community foundations, public charity grantmakers and corporate giving programs. FPN connects Florida grantmakers to one another through educational programs, networking, regional convenings, and online opportunities. It conducts regular research on philanthropy and grantmaking in Florida, as well as periodic research on the state’s nonprofit sector.

Explorer

Your organization is interested in policy and advocacy but has not yet explored all your options. There are no operational plans or investments in public policy work currently in place.

Contributor

The organization participates in administrative advocacy, signs on to policy advocacy letters or speaks at public hearings. They may fund research or have a public policy agenda.

Capacity Builder

The organization funds capacity building efforts or operational support to nonprofits working on public policy. They may fund projects related to research or advocacy and host trainings for grantees about how to engage in policy advocacy.

Collaborator

The organization convenes partners to identify community needs and collaborates on shared policy concerns. It aligns itself strategically with other organizations locally or at the state level, funds policy work or informs legislation, and may have a dedicated staff person working on policy and advocacy issues.

Covert Operator

The organization provides unrestricted operational support to grantees working in the public policy space. They may fund policy research or employ a lobbyist.

Champion

The organization has a public policy agenda, has dedicated in-house staff capacity dedicated to these efforts, and is a sophisticated player pulling on different levels to enact change.
